MATools Announces Resolution of Mac Tahoe Licensing Issue along with Additional Fixes for Windows
We're pleased to confirm that the recent licensing system issue affecting users on Apple's latest macOS release, Mac Tahoe, has now been resolved. During our investigation, we also uncovered and corrected several Windows-specific bugs that surfaced during internal testing.
What Was Happening
Mac Tahoe introduced deep structural changes that temporarily disrupted our licensing framework. This resulted in:
- License keys failing to validate
- Activation and re-activation attempts stalling
- Plugin launches failing in the new OS environment
On Windows, a handful of edge-case bugs were also identified, including unexpected activation retries and rare plugin-initialisation quirks.
What's Fixed
As of today's update:
- Mac Tahoe compatibility is restored - licensing, activation, and plugin loading now behave as expected.
- Windows reliability improvements have been introduced — eliminating the activation-loop bugs and stabilising plugin start-up across a wide range of setups.
What Users Need to Do
- Mac users on Tahoe: Simply update to the latest plugin version to regain full functionality.
- Windows users: Update as normal; the improvements are included automatically.
USB Licensing Guidance
We strongly recommend connecting your licensing USB drive directly to your computer, without using a USB hub. Hubs can occasionally introduce inconsistent device behaviour, which may lead to incorrect license.key files being written during registration. These keys might function on one machine but fail on another, particularly when switching between operating systems.
To ensure your license registers cleanly and works everywhere it should, always perform the license registration with the USB drive plugged directly into your computer or console's USB port.
